Psychoda is an Australian alternative/desert rock outfit who have recently released their new singles »Waste« and »Backbone«, alongside their debut EP »Psychoda«. Originating in November 2021, Newcastle, NSW Australia. The band embarked on a creative journey that has gained momentum since the launch of their debut single, »Papercuts«. Comprised of it’s dedicated members Mike Montgomery (guitar, vocals), Jordan Mitchley (bass), and Kobe McClure (drums), Psychoda has continued as a powerful force of inspiration.
With an unwavering determination, the group continues to pursue their promising artistic vision. Looking ahead, Psychoda eagerly anticipates the ongoing expression of their art, solidifying their presence in the music scene.
Can you say a few words about your band?
We are a three piece rock band from NSW, Australia. Our music revolves around chunky riff orientated musical structures.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Keeping sane between the recording process. It’s all so exciting during the process and it really kills when things don’t work out as planned. Such an amazing, yet overwhelming experience!
What can you be most proud of so far?
This EP that we just released. It’s been welling up in our heads for years and now it is finally out. We made sure to spare no time or dime to make sure it came out in it’s final form correctly. No corners cut.
What was your biggest regret?
I think our biggest regret is not starting this earlier. Now we are addicted to the recording, admin and releasing side of the band. We just wanna put out more!
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Best concert recently was opening up for The Brant Bjork Trio in our hometown. Playing with musicians like that is so inspiring.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Full Flower Moon Band from Brisbane, Australia. These guys have only just become familiar with us, and we can’t get enough.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
»Maggot Brain« by Funkadelic, David Bowie, Melvins & Tom Waits.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Don’t give up.

Can you say something more about the music scene in NSW, Australia?
The band is based in Newcastle, NSW. We have quite an accepting and vibrant scene for musicians. We are happy to see some heavier bands enter the scene.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Our next show is in Sydney, NSW for a small event called “Freshly Squeezed”. We’d love to come to Europe.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Keep recording and releasing music, tour USA & Europe. Keep playing live and writing.
