Doomed Confessionary: Roberto Biasin (Starspawn Of Cthulhu)

Starspawn Of Cthulhu is an one-man doom metal band from Vicenza, Italy.

After three EPs and one single, Roberto Biasin is currently gearing up to release debut full-length album »Alienum« on July 6th, 2024.

»Alien Crown« and »Ancient Visitors« are the first singles taken from Starspawn Of Cthulhu’s upcoming album.

Can you say a few words about your band?
Starspawn Of Cthulhu is a Lovecraft themed doom metal band formed in Italy in late 2019 by Roberto Biasin and Domenico Groppo.
With the release of three albums, one single featuring Chris Babalis from Acid Mammoth and a signing with Talheim Records the band gained some good response in the underground.
After the leaving of Domenico and the end of the collaboration with the label Starspawn Of Cthulhu became a one-man band with session musicians for live shows.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
The biggest challenge is to try to gain fans and appreciation among this ocean of bands. Building a fanbase and a strong network can be very difficult.

What can you be most proud of so far?
When I see people listening to my music around the world it really makes my day, also when i talk to someone about this project and they are like “oh yeah i know starspawn” is really great, it gives you something in return!

What was your biggest regret?
Wasting time with someone who doesn’t really help your band, all musicians must be careful.

What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Until now Starspawn Of Cthulhu has been a studio band, but soon there will be a live gig and I hope in the future to manage to take this project on a stage again.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Discover new artists who still manage to play new and original stuff, metal music will really never die, it just revives.

What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Lately I have been listening to Wayfarer, Ahab, Oranssi Pazuzu and… Judas Priest a lot, but I listen to tons of music everyday.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Underline and exploit your peculiarities, don’t hide them in order to appear more standard.

What are your guilty pleasures?
I don’t feel guilty but some friends of mine mock me for liking Sabaton ahah.

Can you say something more about the music scene in Vicenza / Veneto?
The underground metal scene in my area is good, i go to see a show once a week regularly and there’s always something to do although I don’t live in a city, i’m talking about Veneto region, North-eastern Italy.

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
On July 27th there will be the release party of the new album »Alienum« in Montebello Vicentino, Italy. You are all welcome!

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Release this album and grow with fans, I put a lot of inspiration in that. I’m also really excited for the live show.

How can people best support your band?
People can support me by buying music and merch on Bandcamp and listening to my music, also spreading the word to your friends is a good way of support.

Do you have any message for your listeners?
If you like Lovecraftian themes, Alien stuff and you’d love to hear some original doom metal, listen to Starspawn Of Cthulhu and don’t miss the new album »Alienum«! CTHULHU FHTAGN!
