Ása is an ambient, post-rock trio, emerged from the vibrant music scene in Boise, Idaho. The band consists of Lucas Hengel on bass, Roy Shryne on guitar and Shane Gibbs on drums.

Their music is characterized by its atmospheric, instrumental compositions that weave together elements of ambient, doomgaze, and experimental rock. Their sound is often described as a journey through sonic landscapes, marked by crescendos of layered guitar and bass, pulsating rhythms, and sonic landscapes.

Ása just released their debut EP »Fathom« on June 17th, 2024. Recorded and mixed by Brandon Wallace at Luxtone Studios in Boise, Idaho. Mastered by Brad Boatright at AudioSiege Mastering Studios in Portland, Oregon.

Can you say a few words about your band?
ÁSA is a three piece ambient, noise, post-rock slowcore band from Boise Idaho formed in September-2023.

What was the biggest challenge for the band?
The biggest challenge is teaching people how to correctly pronounce our name. It is pronounced “Ow-Suh”.

What can you be most proud of so far?
The release of our first new EP »Fathom«.

What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
All the positive feedback the band has received from all the people that have seen us live or listened to our music offerings.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
It’s not about the mistakes you make, it’s about how quickly you recover.

Roy: The key to success is longevity, is to never stop creating.

What are your guilty pleasures?
Roy: Video games.

Lucas: Chocolate and peanut butter, Binge watching »The Walking Dead«, a good saison on a hot day. And having breakfast for dinner.

Shane: 80’s era Madonna, watching whe »Why Files« on Youtube. Anything that involves Graham Hancock.

Can you say something more about the music scene in Boise / Idaho?
The boise music scene has been blowing up in the last 10 years, and is thriving. More all age venues and venues in general. Our local independently operated Radio station. Radio Boise KRBX is providing an outlet for local bands to showcase their music…

Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Nothing planned tour wise, but local and small regional shows as they arrive. But mostly we are taking time to rehearse and write new material.

What are your plans for the future as a band?
Make more Music in general, and work on Developing our own sound.
