Can you say a few words about your band?
We’re a heavy doom band from Tennessee here to fuck your brain up. We are The Wicked Trip.
What was the biggest challenge for the band last year?
I’d say our biggest challenge was recording our latest album and losing a member. We recorded »Cabin Fever« in an airless garage during one of Tennessee’s hottest summers. We cracked the door a little in an effort to cool down but all it did was get the cops called on us. (That could be why we lost a member haha)
What can you be most proud of last year?
One of our biggest achievements as a band is getting signed to a kickass label. We’ve been talking about it for years and it’s really cool to see how it all finally came together. We’re extremely proud of how »Cabin Fever« turned out. The album has been in the works since our self-titled debut so it’s a major payoff for all of us. (Thank You Mephistofeles and Luca Frizza!)
What was your biggest regret?
Our biggest regret is not playing more shows, other than that it’s been a great year.
What was the best concert/tour last year and why?
It’s gotta be the show with our brothers Ponddigger. We played with them last November at Moonlight Barbershop and it was a hell of a night. We all got pretty fucked up and let the amps roar. If anyone is local to KY, I would highly suggest checking them out. Molotov Skate Shop is another great place we’ve played. The environment is very welcoming. It’s just like family.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
We were surprised at how hospitable the local scenes are. Coming from a genre full of black magic and mayhem, it’s fun to see the nicest people listen to the evilest shit.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
As of now, we have a date lined up next March in KY with Ponddigger. We’re working on a few earlier Nashville shows, but only time will tell.
What are your plans for this year as a band? What do you personally want the most?
We’re currently working on two EPs along with getting shows lined up. I can’t say much about the second, but our first EP will contain a collection of older material and songs that didn’t make »Cabin Fever«. Some real groovy shit.
What are your New Year’s Eve activities like?
More than likely getting fucked up! Happy New Year!
How can people best support your band?
The best way is by coming to our shows and checking out our Bandcamp page. Don’t be afraid to spread the love!
Do you have any message for your listeners?
We love the fans man, it’s an honor to be a part of something bigger than ourselves. Stay tuned, wicked things are soon to come!
