Doomed Confessionary: Shane, Dakota & Chase (PondDigger)
PondDigger is a stoner/doom metal trio based in Brodhead, Kentucky.
After a few singles, the band released their self-titled debut album on February 9th, 2024.
PondDigger are Shane Northern (bass, vocals), Dakota McWhorter (guitar) and Chase Karczewski (drums).
Can you say a few words about your band?
We’re a bunch of hillbilly stoners who like to play loud music and Chew tobacco.
What was the biggest challenge for the band last year?
We had a lineup change in the band shortly after its conception. That was hard initially to bounce back from.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Self producing and releasing our first EP.
What was your biggest regret?
No regrets.
What was the best concert/tour last year and why?
Halloween Hootenanny In Whitesburg, Kentucky, with some of our buddies from Season of the Witch, Buzzhound, Crop, Kyarn, and Wyndryder.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
The welcoming atmosphere of the doom scene in eastern Kentucky. And also the lack of venues that are playing heavy music.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Sleep, Pentagram, Monolord, Wicked Trip, Season Of The Witch, and many more.
Can you say something more about the music scene in Brodhead, Kentucky?
There is NO music scene in our hometown, so we’re trying to build one. As far as the state goes, it’s growing and getting better as it goes. It’s honestly amazing how the state scene is growing so fiercely.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
We’ll be in Johnson city Tennessee on 4/20, Heavy haze fest, and holler of doom in the summer.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Ride this train till the sum bitch runs outta track.
How can people best support your band?
Come to a show and hang out, buy a shirt, a CD, tell your friends and family if you dig our stuff.

We love ya goddammit! Keep fighting the good fight. Cannabis is king.
