Doomed Confessionary: Sven Erik, Sonja & Allan (Trachea)

Nihilistic sludge violence from Jõhvi, Estonia.
Formed in 2012, Trachea currently consists of Sonja on vocals, Sven Erik on guitar and Allan on drums.
Trachea was founded first as a punk band but later started to move towards sludge/doom metal sound.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Sven Erik: Spicy primitive sludgeporridge with lots of garlic. Ida-Viru persse nahuj.
Sonja: We are cool.
Allan: Violent and punky take on sludge.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Sven Erik: Me playing gigs sober (some guys can drink drive and some guys just can’t. What is drunk? Is drunk uh…going all over the road…flipper calm down now. C’mere buddy) and finding a good vocalist.
Sonja: Definetly learning extreme vocals, I still haven’t got my voice back… Sober gigs are the worst, man.
Allan: I think finding our “sound” was pretty much challenging and confusing sometimes. Also keeping rehearshals somewhat consistent is hard.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Sven Erik: Playing a gig while being blackedout and succeeded.
Sonja: Finding my stage persona.
Allan: Not dropping any drumsticks while performing a gig.
What was you biggest regret?
Sven Erik: Too much time spent doing nothing.
Sonja: That I still haven’t got us any merch made by me.
Allan: Not practicing my instrument as much as I wished and not writing new songs.
What was the best concert/tour so far?
Sven Erik: There have been many. 2017 Krampus minitour was super-fun alongside with Nailbite. 2017 Skeneraator Festival was even more fun. I had a little adventure from the festival to drunk tank.
Sonja: I don’t remember anything.
Allan: I think that 2017 and 2019 Baltic tours were great and fun.
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Sven Erik: That people can either be total dickheads, semi-dickheads and some people can be super lovely. But all in all we are a little bit of dickheads, all of us.
Sonja: That people liked the stuff that we were making.
Allan: That people kinda dig our music somehow.
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Sven Erik: Limp Bizkit.
Sonja: Russian army songs… /no politics included/
Allan: Polish black metal.

What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Sven Erik: “There is always time for sludge.” – Pohjamuta
Sonja: Calm down, drink some bock and go perform.
Allan: Don’t hit your cymbals so hard goddammit!
What are your guilty pleasures?
Sven Erik: Midget granny bukkake orgies and brisling sandwhich vomit flavored beer.
Sonja: Gravity bong everyday.
Allan: Drinking IPAs.
Can you say something more about current music scene in Jõhvi / Estonia?
Sven Erik: It feels thriving. Lots of kids have started to make music in different genres.
Sonja: We have a lot of really talented musicians out here, yet we have some that suck a huge ass. 80/20
Allan: We have like couple decent active bands and more youngsters are starting to form diy bands, but mostly our diy scene sucks.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Sven Erik: 26th of April in Hell (it’s a diy venue in Tartu, Estonia). No tours have been planned so far. But let’s see.
Sonja: Yes. Everyone should come and listen to our banging tunes.
Allan: Playing in a local place called Hell. Gig is in 26th of April with Hexis (DK), Kuritarvitaja and Nahakiin. No tours planned.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Sven Erik: To have a Estonia-Germany-Balkan tour.
Sonja: I am ready for new album :l
Allan: To write new tracks, record an EP and maybe try to play outside of Estonia.
How can people best support your band?
Sven Erik: Come to shows, share your drugs and buy some merch.
Sonja: Exactly!
Allan: Check out our Bandcamp and Instagram pages. Listen to our music.
Do you have any messages for your listeners?
Sven Erik: Be nice to eachother and keep on rockin the rollers.
Sonja: Cringe is just another version for freedom – wear it proudly.
Allan: Love and be loved.
