Doomed Confessionary: Tim, Sean & Paul (Tentacle Grave)

Tentacle Grave is a three-piece stoner/doom/sludge band from Peoria, Illinois featuring current and former members of Ängelust, The Horde, Leviticus, Xenospawn, Luciferian Reign and Hrafnskald.
Formed in the Summer of 2023, the band’s focus was to create low-tuned, fuzzed out mayhem to the masses. Their debut EP, »Beyond The Ends Of Universe« (2024) proves this.
Tentacle Grave are Sean Cassidy (ex-Angelust) on bass and vocals, Tim Matthews (ex-The Horde) on guitar, and Paul DeSchepper (ex-The Horde) on drums.
Can you say a few words about your band?
Tim: First off, just wanted to say thank you for the confessionary! We are Tentacle Grave from Peoria, IL in the USA. We just released our debut EP, »Beyond The Ends Of Universe«. We are a super heavy stoner doom band with quite a bit of the fuzz tones with evil vocals.
What was the biggest challenge for the band?
Tim: Paul, our drummer lives about 100 miles away from us so we have to make our practices count and do some of the work on the songs at home, away from practice.
What can you be most proud of so far?
Tim: Releasing our debut EP. The response so far has been very positive.
What was your biggest regret?
Tim: So far there hasn’t been anything to regret. Things have been pretty smooth.
What was the best concert/tour so far and why?
Tim: We actually have not played out yet but we will rectify this in 2025!
What was the biggest surprise on the music scene for you?
Tim: All of the metal tours that are popping up for 2025!
What is currently in your heavy musical rotation?
Tim: Iron Maiden, new High On Fire too!
Paul: The latest Fu Manchu and Autopsy.
Sean: Enslaved, Primordial and Lake Of Tears.
What was the best advice you’ve ever been given as a musician?
Tim: Leave your ego at home. No one wants to see it or deal with it.
What are your guilty pleasures?
Tim: Musically? Hair bands like Dokken and Ratt. I love George Lynch’s guitar playing.
Can you say something more about current music scene in Peoria / Illinois?
Tim: The music scene in Peoria, IL has been struggling for years but there seems to be an underground swell happening with some of the younger bands. Very DIY at the moment.
Where can we see you live this year (concerts/tours)?
Tim: We’ll start with a couple of local shows and then hit the road to some other towns.
What are your plans for the future as a band?
Tim: We’ll be hitting the studio in the Spring to record our first full-length album. Title coming soon…
Did you have any special plans for New Year’s Eve?
Tim: Hanging out with our families.
How can people best support your band?
Tim: By going to our Bandcamp page and purchasing our EP. Also going to our Facebook page and giving it a like.
Do you have any message for your listeners?
