North Carolina psych/sludge band Doomsday Profit has premiered a new video for their single, »Consume The Remains« via The Obelisk.
»Consume The Remains« is taken from the band’s forthcoming debut album, »In Idle Orbit«. »In Idle Orbit« will be available on CD, cassette, and digital formats on November 12th, 2021, and is available to pre-order here.
“All the more kudos to Doomsday Profit for working multiple angles, killing low, building high. Maybe killing high? I don’t know. Definitely those two things. High, and murderous.” — The Obelisk
Building on the song’s preoccupation with the cycles of decay and consumption that fuel civilization, and the doom their dwindling foretells, Doomsday Profit enlisted Dark Sprite Videos (Jess & The Ancient Ones, Church Of Misery) to assemble a visual barrage of extinction and pollution, sprawl and sludge to accompany the song’s vicious and viscous groove.
Or, as The Obelisk’s JJ Koczan put it, summarizing the band’s nihilistic acid-sludge: “Nothing means anything. Everything is permitted. Drink plague and piss riffs. Enjoy.”
»Consume The Remains« is the first single to emerge from Doomsday Profit’s debut album, »In Idle Orbit«. The six-song debut was recorded in August with producer Scotty Sandwich (Luurch, Wolvesx4, Lydia Loveless, Mikey Erg) at The Sandwich Shoppe in Oxford, NC. Establishing Doomsday Profit’s knack for merging the leaden grooves of doom and sludge metal with the sonic excursions of heavy psychedelic rock, »In Idle Orbit« travels in the midst of bands like Church Of Misery and Bongzilla.
»In Idle Orbit« will be independently released on CD, cassette, and digital formats. Pre-orders are available now via Bandcamp.
