Rotterdam, Netherlands based doom/stoner metal solo project Svjetlost (feat. Gavran drummer/vocalist Jamie Kobić) will release debut album »The Forever Silent« on July 24th, 2026 via Shadow Of Sorrow Records.

Born during the isolation of the pandemic, Svjetlost began as a deeply personal creative outlet for Jamie Kobić, best known as the drummer and vocalist of Dutch doom outfit Gavran. What started as a desire to explore songwriting through guitar gradually evolved into »The Forever Silent«, a debut album that blends crushing doom and stoner metal with the rich emotional heritage of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Initially inspired by the infectious heaviness of bands such as Sleep, High On Fire, and OM, the project soon found its true identity through an unexpected source: Sevdah, the traditional folk music of Bosnia. Drawn to its melancholic atmosphere and expressive chord progressions, Svjetlost reimagines those elements through the lens of heavy, riff-driven music, creating a sound that feels both ancient and deeply personal.

The album’s themes are equally rooted in the artist’s Bosnian heritage. Songs such as »Lands Of Suffering« explore the scars left by war and division, while »The Golden Lilies« pays tribute to the historic city of Mostar, a place of both remarkable beauty and painful history. Elsewhere, Between the Peaks draws from a family story spanning two world wars, honoring ancestors whose lives were forever shaped by conflict and loss.
