Tilburg, Netherlands based prog grunge metal band ENMA drops a brand new single »Enchantress«. This is the first single taken from ENMA’s forthcoming studio album. Available now on all major streaming platforms.
Singer Alex Schenkels comments: “We’ve a new single out called »Enchantress«. On this track we’ve tried to expand our progressive grunge sound a little more, by bringing together old school Gothenburg riffing with the alternative rock sound of bands like Stone Temple Pilots.”
About »Enchantress«:
“»Enchantress« is a reflection on how today’s societies deal with depression, especially for women. A topic shrouded in controversy and condemnation, making ‘dark minded’ women into mystified, fetishized objects of fear and temptation.”
About ENMA:
Hailing from Tilburg, the unofficial Dutch capital of heavy music, ENMA offers a wide array of heaviness: from progressive metal riffs to plowing 90s grunge grooves, from introspective melancholia to fierce outbursts. For fans of Tool, Opeth, Alice In Chains and Katatonia.
The band shared the stage with the likes of Soen, Riverside, Dear Mother and Napalm Death and featured festivals like Prognosis and ProgPower Europe. In the fall of 2023 the guys toured as part of the Never Mind the Hype-talent selection for Popronde 2023.

On May 29th, 2024 the band released their single »Enchantress«. In this track the band has sought to further crystallize their progressive grunge metal sound. Where the main riff has a touch of Gothenburg thrash in it, the harmonized vocals in the verse and melancholic chorus are reminiscent of 90ies alternative rock. It’s a rather straight-forward, energetic composition with a handful of proggy time signatures. All in all it makes »Enchantress« a tune for open-minded metalheads and rockers.
ENMA’s first album »Apathy Awakened« was released on Electric Spark Records in late 2022 and the band has all but restrained themselves on this debut. On the 9 songs they marry compositional complexity with socially engaged lyricism, without losing a raw edge.
The band worked together with a renowned team: Tymon Kruidenier (Exivious, Our Oceans) led the production, the mastering was done by Tower Studios (e.g. Devin Townsend Project, Ayreon, Haken). Maarten Donders (e.g. Roadburn Festival, Opeth) crafted a mystical and dark, yet psychedelic piece of art that adorns the record.
