Helsinki, Finland based grunge/alternative rock trio Velvetcut presents a revitalized version of their comeback album »The Great Chameleon«, titled »The Great Chameleon (New Skin)«, which was just released on November 21st, 2025 via Rockhopper Music.

Velvetcut honors the 90s grunge era with »The Great Chameleon (New Skin)«!

Finnish alt rockers Velvetcut have officially dropped »The Great Chameleon (New Skin)«, a fully reimagined edition of their 2025 comeback album »The Great Chameleon«. This version digs straight into the heart of the 90s grunge era, capturing the raw spirit of the time while pushing the band’s evolution forward.

»The Great Chameleon (New Skin)« expands the original record with two previously unreleased tracks that shine a brighter light on the band’s range and roots:

• Carnival Of Lust – A heavy-grooved, hypnotic grunge crawler that even features spoon playing as a sly, respectful wink to Soundgarden’s iconic »Spoonman«
• Rabbit Holes – A mellow, atmospheric dive into Velvetcut’s introspective side, showing the band’s talent for dynamic mood and texture

The album also includes three songs written during Velvetcut’s early 90s sessions. One highlight is »Run Rabbit Run«, a newly recorded version of the cult classic originally performed by Finnish rock legends Smack. Smack made waves across the late 80s West Coast underground and caught the attention of Kurt Cobain himself. Nirvana even covered »Run Rabbit Run« live back in the day, with rare footage still floating around for the diehards.

Velvetcut built their name on a blend of grunge grit, melodic weight and atmospheric depth. After three albums and a long break beginning in 2012, they made their return in 2025 with »The Great Chameleon«. Now, »New Skin« gives that record a second life, honoring where they came from while sharpening who they are today.
