Ladies and gentlemen let me introduce you the Finnish stoner rock/metal act Distressed’s new album »Made Of Stone«. A successor for the debut album (»Nothing For No One«, 2023). But this time the Jyväskylä-based band strikes harder and stronger than before.

The new album significantly widens Distressed’s musical palette. Of course, there are still heavy rock riffs and clear nods to the history of metal music, but this time there’s much more variety. For example, the epic track »Sungod« features Miguel Fernandez performing a Pemon Indian jaguar mantra.

There’s also »You Haven’t Found It (Yet)«, a song that carries strong 80s Depeche Mode vibes. »Agents Of Groove« might take you to mid-2000s L.A., with a touch reminiscent of Eagles Of Death Metal.

»Like Thunder« is about the power of music and live performances – those moments when you can feel the crowd absorbing the energy the band produces and mirroring it right back. The lyrics also carry a bit of easy-going 80s-style fun.

»Big Fat Lies« tells the story of a killer who gets fed up with his friends and drops their bodies beneath the ice of a frozen lake. There’s some grim and dark humor woven into it as well.

»Agents Of Groove« is about a new relationship and that feeling when time seems to move painfully slow until you meet again.

Distressed was founded in 2020 and they have released two full-length albums and played gigs around Finland. The story of the band has been quite relentless. There has been coronavirus, drummer changes, and other annoyances, but the band has just believed in themselves and pushed forward. The musical style has never been limited to too tight a framework, moving somewhere in grunge/heavy/hard rock/alternative terrain. Each player brings their own mark to the songs and over the years they have developed into our own sound.
