Void Cruiser, a heavy alternative rock band from Helsinki, Finland, has been evolving since 2011 and developed their sound into a distinctive mixture of 90s grunge and heavy rock, with some taste of desert rock, post metal and shoegaze. Void Cruiser delivers vast soundscapes and unrelenting riffage with mellow and melancholic sonic aesthetics reinforced with smoothly dejected lyrical expression. Some influences throughout the years include for example Alice In Chains, Type O Negative, Deftones, and Kyuss.

The band says: “It took some time for us to organize ourselves and to get the writing process going on after the previous album, but after Antti joined us we refound ourselves as a band. Everyone found their place in the diverse musical realms we operate and everything felt just natural. And finally, we can share the first progeny of the Void Cruiser that we now are.

The album truly represents the whole band and none of the songs wouldn’t be as they are without all the band members putting their soul into the process. Also, having Jaakko (Eskelinen) as our studio wizard and sound guy is something to cherish for. He knows us and what we want and how to perfectly deliver our visions into tracks. And putting the final pieces together with Alan Douches handling the mastering so what else to hope for? Well great artwork (thanks to Unexpected Specter) and working with Argonauta Records of course.

So all in all we are very happy and proud of this album. When people find it and give it a spin, if it has even a fraction of the effect it has on us, it will be worth it.”

Void Cruiser released their first album »Overstaying My Welcome« in 2015, gained some followers and the album received some decent, even praising reviews. With their second full-length album »Wayfarer« (2017 – Argonauta Records, Oak Island Records) the band renewed their sound and clearly started to establish their own way of doing things. The album was highly praised by the audience and media, which brought a lot of support and led to recognition on albums of the year lists (Metal Nexus #2 and More Fuzz #6).

Now Void Cruiser – strengthened by one additional member since the previous albums – have created their third record and are ready to unleash the full power of their sonic excess.

»Call Of The Void« is about finding hope through dread in the looming entity called existence. It speaks of love and the deep sadness and relief that coexist with letting go when transcending oneself into infinity.

A redefinition of the band in all dimensions. The group’s recognizable elements such as melancholic melodies, mellow, yet powerful vocals and a thick, but groovy fuzz wall, are still there, but with a newly established feeling to it all. »Call Of The Void« is an abundant delivery of gloomy, but groovy sonic ranting and mourning.
