Ceased Sunfire is a stoner metal band formed in the winter of 2021, with singer-guitarist-songwriter Ale at the helm. After Ale’s previous band disbanded, he auditioned bass players and drummers until he found a good match with Fellu and Juza, respectively. Ale’s heavy new songs found perfect performers of the three.

With the help of CBH Recordings’ Juho Karenko, the trio had their first rehearsal in Autumn of 2021 and quickly realized that they had a great chemistry together. Despite the challenges posed by Covid-19, the band managed to gather in a studio in January and February of 2022 to record their debut EP »Sleepless«.

The band draws inspiration from a wide range of artists from Alice In Chains to Pink Floyd, as well as various Finnish metal bands such as Swallow The Sun, Kaiser, and Amorphis. Main lyricist Ale believes that music is a powerful medium for exploring deeper meanings and giving voice to important issues. In his lyrics, Ale tackles themes of struggle and introspection, hoping to inspire listeners to take action in their own lives.

The band aims to create heavy and groovy music that reflects their shared love for Finnish metal. With »Sleepless«, Ceased Sunfire established themselves as a force to be reckoned with in the stoner metal scene.

Their debut album »The Divide« was released Sep 29, 2023. The album is a gnarly blend of hard-edged doom and stoner metal, a journey through dank, doomic grooves and blackened grit. Ale’s vocals, reminiscent of the sinister tones of stoner doom icons like Electric Wizard, weave an aura of malevolence that haunts each track.

Fellu’s growling bass and Juza’s pounding drums create a tumultuous storm, echoing the band’s raw yet captivating energy. The influence of southern sludge is undeniable, a gritty underbelly that gives life to their sound.

Their songs, concise yet powerful, hit with the force of a sledgehammer. »The Bridge« is a revolving mass of dank doomic groove and recurring guitar riffs, propelled by Ale’s distinctive vocals.

»Sunny In Your Head« introduces ritualistic harmonies and metallic stridency, showcasing the band’s versatility. Ceased Sunfire isn’t just a band; it’s an experience, a rebellion, echoing the roars of stoner doom and southern sludge legends, announcing its arrival with the force of a tempest.

Embracing a darker, slower, doom-inspired style, »Can’t See Inside« is a great addition to their previous work. The band’s excitement is palpable as they reveal this musical evolution.
