After the destructive »Savior«, comes »Blind Eye«, which showcases another side of the atmospheric/post-metal sludge duo from the eastern Paris suburbs scene. A more nuanced track, with striking airy phases and a slightly more present sensitivity, although the rage never lets up! Recommended for fans of My Diligence, Cult Of Luna, or »Magma«-era Gojira, it’s yet another hint of the great potential displayed by this first six-songs record, out May 16th (pre-orders open). It will also be supported on stage this spring, and in VERY good company:
16/05 – Paris @ Le Klub RELEASE PARTY w/ Maudits + Clegane
17/05 – Savigny-le-Temple @ L’Empreinte / Grand Paris Sludge 2025 w/ The Crazy World Of Arthur Brown + Dirty Sound Magnet + Daily Thompson + Subterraen
24/05 – Magny-le-Hongre @ File 7 w/ Birds In Row + Black Bile

Listening to the rhythm of »Blind Eye«, it becomes clear that drummer Jérémy Hourdoir doesn’t steal his math rock influences! A deconstructed and technical score that can’t betray a relentless groove, while Clément Decuypere’s 6-string bass riffs are still crushing. But we find once again what Nvage seems to establish as a trademark: an aggressive intention confronted with vaporous sounds, using amps made from recycled material. Which, we agree, is all too rarely heard in the metal sphere.
Nvage sweeps everything away with this post metal whirlwind, and doesn’t fail to torment the most sensitive souls with Clément’s vocals from beyond the grave. But the latter also broadens his palette with choirs filled with fragility and sensitivity (and if you haven’t been able to listen to the EP yet, I’ll let you know that it’s a bit like the tree that hides the forest!). In addition, the singer-bassist of the duo tells us a little more about the theme addressed on this single:
“»Blind Eye« is one of the last tracks written for this EP, and probably the one that most closely resembles what we want to do with Nvage. It’s a song about denial, about refusing to see a problem even when it’s already there and has visible consequences. Quite literally, the song criticizes the act of standing still in the middle of a burning house.”
Recorded by Nvage, assisted by Pierre, David and Felix at Fortunella (Tournan-en-Brie).
Mixed by Jérémy Hourdoir.
Mastered by Pierre Guignery (Carpenter Bee Studio).
