Heartbreak, gravity, and deafening vibrations: it’s the quest for darkness that brings together Malemort and Cerbère. Since their unholy encounter, both trios have felt the urge to team up for a split record, giving birth to »Aimless / Glace Mère«. This collaboration marks the return of Malemort’s dissonant impassivity and a new incarnation of Cerbère’s filthy and disillusioned firepower. Malemort’s A-side »Aimless« stretches like an 18-minute vision of a chaotic future, to which Cerbère responds with B-side »Glace Mère«, transporting us into 16 minutes of the coldest and most acidic of landscapes. Two complementary ways of making low frequencies and dissonances resound, uniting in a bitter yet worthy response to the violence of our times.

For the vinyl release, they joined forces with four labels from the DIY underground scene: Rope or Guillotine (Nijmegen, Pays-Bas), La Harelle (Rouen, France), Arsenic Solaris (Lyon, France) and Chien Noir (Paris, France).

Born in 2015 from the ashes of Fatum Elisum, (The True) Malemort is the slowest entity of the Rouen-based collective La Harelle. It brings together Aosin (Mhönos, Trivisa) on bass and vocals, Ausrah (Ataraxie, ex-Fatum Elisum) on guitar and vocals, and Nemri (Sordide, Buñuel, ex-Monarch) on drums and vocals. In 2017, the trio released »Individualism, Narcissism, Hedonism« on the New Jersey label Prison Tatt Records, followed by a release via Taiwanese label Bad Moon Rising. It was praised by US website No Clean Singing for its chaotic vision that oscillates between dissonant impassivity and violent outbursts. After sharing the stage with Cough, Verdun, Chrch, Fange, Behold The Monolith, and Year Of No Light, and an appearance at Visions Festival in 2019, Malemort found the perfect sonic partner in Cerbère to share their first release, while completing their second album, set to be released in 2026.

Cerbère draws inspiration from everything brutal, primitive, noisy, and abrasive in riff-driven music. After releasing their eponymous debut EP in 2021, the Parisian trio followed up with the album »Cendre«, released on Chien Noir in 2023. The following year, they traveled to England for a few dates and continued to tour extensively in France. Heavily influenced by the sludge/doom scene of the 90s, charged with punk energy, these dogs from hell don’t shy away from infusing their sticky and desperate music with a dose of psychedelia. Their split with Malemort exemplifies this approach. Recorded live in one day, this epic sixteen-minute track, inspired by Moorcock’s literature, takes us to the far reaches of an eternally frozen world.
