French dark folk collective Askemåne teamed up with post-metal band Hølls for their brand new single »Arbeid«, accompanied by a music video.

»Arbeid« is taken from Askemåne’s upcoming album, »Kollisjon«, which will be released on March 19th, 2026.

French neo dark folk band Askemåne has released a new single called »Arbeid«. It’s a collaboration song with post-metal band Hølls. The song will be on »Kollisjon«, Askemåne new album out on March 19th.

The video was shot by Schlak Productions at La Citadelle, Besançon’s famous historical place located at the top of the city. The song deals with different kinds of work (“Arbeid” meaning “work” in Norwegian): spiritual, physical, etc.

Askemåne + Hølls

Askemåne started in Besançon, France, in 2021 and quickly leaned into a specific lane of neo-folk: Nordic folklore at the centre, tribal percussion underneath, orchestral weight around it, and just enough Eastern colour to keep the edges shifting. The vocals are a big part of the identity. They go guttural and shouted when the music needs it, then fall back into harmonies that feel built to carry a room.

After the singles »Vinter Saga«, »I Rotasjon«, and »Dyaul«, they self-produced Gravitasjon in May 2024. Late 2025 marked the start of a new chapter, with fresh members coming in and the vocal stack opening up even further.

That road leads to »Kollisjon«, due March 19th, 2026. It was recorded at Medvedkine Studio, with recording, mix, and mastering handled by Paul Pourchet.
