The full-length of the French newcomers Solstitium »Morgoth« will see the light of day on July 25th, at Headbangers Open Air (which we’ll be attending, like every year), together with the new CD of Dread Ogre and the reissue of the second album of Arkham Witch.

Solstitium play a riveting mix of ’90s death/doom and epic heavy metal, making each song stand out thanks to varying proportions of each style, a wide range of tempos, moods and arrangements. With bone-grinding riffs and sound, their debut is the musical equivalent of a road-roller! Yet, every instrument has space to breathe thanks to the excellent production. The vocals are equally impressive, offering both deep, beasty growls, sinister-sounding harsh parts and imposing clean singing, while lyrical themes are steeped in the worlds of Robert E. Howard and Tolkien. If you’re into bands like early Paradise Lost, Bolt Thrower, Celtic Frost, Grand Magus, Runemagick, Ironsword, early My Dying Bride, Necros Christos, epic era Bathory and Doomsword, don’t miss this brilliant album!
