After the majestic and neck-breaking »Hic Sunt Dracones« Stone From The Sky unveils their new single today! »Rond De Sorcière« is the second sneak peek from »Bakeneko«, their fourth album, available exactly one month from now, on May 30th via Argonauta Records. The trio from Le Mans is increasingly moving away from a certain stoner label that no longer suited them, fully embracing their post-metal aesthetic, tinged with psychedelic and post-rock. This new track perfectly illustrates this, and is recommended for fans of Russian Circles, Neurosis, Pelican, and Isis!
Placed in the middle of »Bakeneko«, »Rond De Sorcière« has the appearance of a large peak, a viewpoint allowing the listener to observe and overlook the vast domain of Stone From The Sky. Before a descent always strewn with pitfalls towards dry land and the muddy sounds of the second half of the album. This single flies above the fray with a drum that alternates between groove on the offbeats and tribal strikes, and a hypnotic tapping guitar like SFTS makes its signature. It is further proof of the power of enchantment deployed by the trio. But also of its pronounced taste for abrupt and surprising turns towards heavy and intense phases.

The band tells us a little more about their compositional vision: “As a counterpoint to the previous single »Hic Sunt Dracones«, »Rond De Sorcière« explores other uncharted territories on the Stone From The Sky continent, some of our most emotional ones. Calm melodies surrounded by whale songs, side by side with punchy parts sounding like great worms burrowing. A whole world of mythical creatures emerges, summoned by a voiceless language beyond words. Carefully balanced to switch between fragile themes and heavy riffing, sometimes branching off to steal a bit of emotive violence.
I invite you without further ado to experience this new single from Stone From The Sky, on your favorite streaming platform, the band’s Bandcamp page, or this visualizer on their YouTube channel!
