Dirty Black Summer is the project of five musicians seeking musical redemption working among the most abrasive formations of the “south of heaven” (French Riviera): Svart Crown, In Other Climes and Wormsand. From the black metal scene to hardcore and sludge, now reunited, seeking the post-mortem blessing of Layne Staley and under the amused eye of Glenn Danzig.

Lovers of the alternative Seattle scene delivering a nostalgic tribute of a bygone era. Seeking their first musical emotions, a will stirred up by the forced rest imposed by the first lockdown and the self-withdrawal which arose from it.

Dirty Black Summer has emerged as a cathartic safety valve which expresses itself through a post-grunge rock from the nineties implicitly conveying the very essence of black metal.

“A year ago all our musical activities were brought to an abrupt end. Away from the scene. Nothing went as planned and we had to fill this gap by being creative.” ~ JB Le Bail

Dirty Black Summer’s debut EP, »Great Deception«, was released on May 21, 2021 on Nova Lux production / Season Of Mist. Six tracks bringing together five original compositions and a surprising cover of Britney Spears’ »Womanizer«.

Twenty-seven minutes without being disconnected from the current era, Dirty Black Summer revisits the codes of the genre adding a sulphurous touch.

Dirty Black Summer about their first full-length album »Gospel Of Your Sins«: “We’ve been keeping this album to ourselves for almost a year now, patiently waiting for the best moment to share it. It carries within all the sadness, lust, anger, pain, anxiety but also the beauty accumulated over the last two years. We were fortunate to be able to collaborate with the talented Marald van Haasteren (Kvelertak, Converge, Cult Of Luna, Dool) who managed to bring our vision to life through this work of art filled with details, references and symbolism.”

FFO: Alice In Chains, Danzig, Skin Yard, The Cult
