With »Green Lands«, Fall Of Messiah conclude a second trilogy begun with »Empty Colors« (2017) and continued with »Senicarne« (2020). Their unique sound isn’t meant to be reinvented, but rather celebrated here in all its liberating, melancholic, and undeniably captivating glory. The deconstructed bass and drums, the guitars that are sometimes dissonant, sometimes ethereal, and the jarring screams that echo in the distance are all still present. But the now-quartet has a real knack for juxtaposing soaring, ethereal passages with pure, chaotic phases. In both cases, a whirlwind of emotions awaits anyone who comes within earshot. All you have to do is let yourself be carried away and be surprised by the few arpeggios that bring their own touch of gentleness. Discreet, certainly, but no less striking!

A title like this can only be evocative. On their fifth album, Fall Of Messiah explore themes of reconnecting with oneself and the journey towards inner peace. Drummer/vocalist Pierre Bailleul draws inspiration from his hours spent hiking in forests and mountains, from periods of reflection and introspection amidst nature and its verdant landscapes. The sublime cover art for »Green Lands« leaves no doubt about it. Ten new tracks weave their way through branches and leaves like the wind. In their solid form, one senses the earth and moss after the deluge, as grass, parched by the ravages of time, begins to sprout again.
