Moura’s new EP »Fume santo de loureiro« is out now! Go psych-prog-folk with this unique band.

After surprising everyone with their self-titled debut in 2020, making us dance with their single »Muiñeira da Maruxaina« in 2021, and establishing themselves as one of the most interesting bands in the European psych-prog scene with their album »Axexan, espreitan« in 2022, the Galician band Moura has just released »Fume santo de loureiro«, a new EP already available on all digital platforms as well as in physical formats via Spinda Records.

Initially conceived as the soundtrack for the short film »Nai« by filmmaker Tito Refoxo, and co-written with Brais do Rei (current drummer of the band, following the departure of Luis Casanova, who participated in all previous recordings), this multidisciplinary project tells the story of a family from the village of Rois in A Coruña, who become entangled in a dark tragedy involving the disappearance of the youngest member of the household…

»Fume santo de loureiro« is composed of three main tracks, in addition to a signature introduction and numerous fragments of incidental music. It is an EP in which they showcase their most experimental side in terms of integrating psychedelia, progressive rock, and folklore; and its title refers to a verse prominently featured in various Galician traditional rituals related to exorcism, healing, curing, and blessing practices. Thus, traditional vocals and percussion guide through the process of loss; progressive-tinged “esconxuros” create a hypnotic mantra against the evil eye; and the “arrolos” (lullabies) become ghostly laments.

It is 2024, and the band continues to demonstrate their commitment to exploring and preserving Galician tradition, something that was evident both in the single “Contra os males de aireada” and in all the symbolism hidden in the artwork, created by the band’s guitarist, Hugo Santeiro.

Recorded and mixed at Hertzcontrol Studio in Seixas (Portugal) by producer and engineer Marco Lima, »Fume santo de loureiro« features mastering by Álvaro Gallego, who has already contributed to previous works by Moura.

»Fume santo de loureiro« is now available on all streaming platforms, as well as on CD and vinyl. The latter is part of the ‘Trippy Series’ by Spinda Records and comes in a limited edition of 500 copies on transparent vinyl with screen printing on one side.
