Würzburg-based death/doom outfit Sunday Of The Dead just released their latest single, »Thoughts Of Inevitable Annihilation«, taken from their forthcoming EP »Memento Moribundis«. The track introduces vocalist Glauber Haereticus, who joined the band following the departure of founding member Steffi, and signals a shift in direction that leans further into death metal’s aggression without discarding the slow, suffocating weight that defined their earlier work.
The band first emerged in 2019 as a duo formed by Susi (guitars, clean vocals) and Steffi (bass, main growls), later expanding to a full lineup with the addition of Phil (guitars, growls) and Jürgen (drums). Their debut EP »Disrupt The Night«, recorded at Pariah Music Studios, appeared in 2020 and established a sound rooted in atmosphere and sorrow. That foundation still holds, but »Thoughts Of Inevitable Annihilation« brings a sharper edge, suggesting a more hostile tone in what’s to come.
