Five years after their magnificent album »Spew Forth Odium«, Hamburg-based Doom Metal institution Ophis return with their sixth studio album, »Encased In Deathlike Layers« and they have truly taken things to another level.

Today, we present »The Astral Tomb«, the first single from the upcoming album. Prepare for a descent into the deepest abysses of human existence, where misery, suffering and helplessness collide with the power and strength to endure.

Recorded in spring 2026 at 3RD A. Studio in Holm, »Encased In Deathlike Layers« was produced, mixed and mastered by Jens Ballaschke. The haunting cover artwork was created by Ophis drummer Ole Fink himself.

Six songs spanning almost one hour of crushing, atmospheric and emotionally devastating doom metal make this album a musical journey into the darkness within each and every one of us. A monumental statement from one of Germany’s most respected doom metal bands and without a doubt, one of the major highlights of autumn 2026.

»Encased In Deathlike Layers« will be released on November 27th, 2026 via FDA Records and distributed by Cargo Records. The new album is available for pre-order as CD, double LP (DLP) and merchandise directly from the FDA Records online shop. Pre-order now HERE.
