Hamburg, Germany based doom/death/black metal band Atramentum is back with their second full-length album, »The Wrath Within«, which was just released on January 24th, 2025.

“On their second album, the Hamburg-based band pushes the boundaries. The doomy parts are even more doomy and crushing, the fast ones even more aggressive. A melancholy mood is always enthroned above everything. For the first time, singer Sebastian uses clean vocals alongside his fierce growls, adding another layer to the already varied songs. »The Wrath Within« is primarily forged from doom and death metal, spiced up with elements of black metal and a good dose of rock and even blues.”

Sebastian Schlenker and Tobias Norff founded Atramentum in 2018. In 2022, this musical marriage resulted in a multi-layered bastard: »Doomed In Time«. The ten songs on the debut album primarily combine elements of doom, death and black metal in a unique way.

In March 2023, the debut album was offi cially released on the Teufelszeug Records label, drawing new listeners and consistently positive reviews from scene magazines. The band ended their collaboration with the label in September 2024.

In 2023 and 2024, Atramentum invested a lot of time and passion into the production of the follow-up album. 13 songs were recorded in-house, mixed by Dennis Israel (ClintWorks) and mastered by Eike Freese at the renowned Chameleon Recording Studios Hamburg.

With a running time of 72 minutes, »The Wrath Within« has become a real mammoth work that is musically comparable to the debut album but pushes the boundaries further in all directions: The doomy parts are even more sustaining, the fast outbursts even angrier. If you listen closely, you will discover elements of doom, death and black metal as well as some infl uences from blues and rock n roll. On »The Wrath Within«, Sebastian Schlenker sings clean in some passages for the first time, which gives the album another exciting component.
