German doom/psych quartet Coltaine and Italian dark folk solo artist kariti have announced their European tour this September.

Coltaine comments: “In September we’ll be back on tour. We’ve joined forces with kariti – Russian-born, Italy-based solo artist, whose dark, atmospheric music we adore and find that her music complements ours very well.

We’ll be playing in Italy, Slovenia and Switzerland for the very first time. It will also be kariti’s debut in Germany.

The poster design was made by the great Noise Armada.

We’re still looking for a concert on September 22nd. (Preferably around southern Germany or eastern France) Hit us up if you can help us.

We are very exited and hope to meet you on the road!”

“We were looking around for bands for a festival that we are organizing in the fall and we became aware of kariti. We fell immediately in love with her music so i picked up the phone and together we came up with the idea of going on tour together, since we were planning to play in northern Italy anyway and got ourselves a big van this year.” — Benedikt, Coltaine

“Since live shows returned after the pandemic, i started looking for gigs to play and instead of just one, i get to join Coltaine on their September European tour, which will be my first run and i’m super stoked about it! i instantly loved the raw, untamable energy of their music and can’t wait to witness it live for many nights in a row and share this adventure with them.” — kariti

Versatile hard rock quartet, Coltaine, thrive on contrast. Now five records into their journey, that began in 2014, Moritz Pirmin Berg (guitarist,) Benedikt Klemens Berg (bass,) and Julia Frasch (vocals) are unremittingly forward-
looking.

There is a ferocious energy and rhythmic nuance to the band that delivers devastating guitar riffs in a raw blend of progressive, darkish, neo-psychedelic rock.

Coltaine’s most recent record, like the previous albums, was recorded live in an independent environment in their hometown, Karlsruhe to catch the instinctive raw energy and was released March 31,2022 without a label. They continue to improve their unique mixture of crafted songwriting and spacious groove on the road with a 10+ date tour this spring and fall. Coltaine have deep musical roots and grow a heavy, engaging sound, with sheer feeling in every song.

Coltaine is:
Moritz Pirmin Berg – Guitar
Benedikt Klemens Berg – Bass
Julia Frasch – Vocals
Arne Kang – Drums

карити (kariti) – (‘mourn the dead’ in church Slavonic, an antique Slavic liturgical language) is a Russian born artist based in Italy. Her debut »Covered Mirrors« was released on September 18, 2020 by the Italian label Aural Music and represents a cathartic peregrination through bereavement.

»Covered Mirrors« is a collection of 9 intimate mostly stripped down mourning folk songs with crisp fingerstyle guitar and eerie vocal harmonies. Evocative lyrics in English and Russian explore various facets of death and parting.

It was recorded and mixed on an old secluded countryside property by Lorenzo Della Rovere and mastered by Lorenzo Stecconi (Ufomammut, Zu, Grime). The record features Marco (Grime) on electric guitar on »Sky Burial« and »Anna: Requiem To Death« and Lorenzo Della Rovere on acoustic guitar on »The Baptism Of A Witch«.

Music for »The Baptism Of A Witch« is inspired by an antique Russian folk song about reincarnation »Razlilas rechka bystraya«. Lyrics for »Anna« are a loose translation of Anna Akhmatova’s poem »Requiem: To Death«. Intro is a mix of traditional Russian funeral singing.

Recommended for those who enjoy dark, somber atmospheres with profound lyrical content.
