Eremit about the new release: “We are the Blade Of The Underground!
»Blade Of The Underground« is a compilation encompassing Eremit’s first three studio releases »Carrier Of Weight«, »Desert If Ghouls« and »Bearer Of Many Names«. This compilation is the first Eremit release under their freshly forged own label Drei Gleichen.
The songs on this compilation are in their mythological correct order. We are following along the journey of the hermit Umno, starting on the “Weltenmeer”, then crawling our way through the depths of the “Udun-ba” grots, to then wander through desert landscapes and unmapped territories. The three CDs of this compilation are each dedicated to one of these three story-blocks: Water, Grot and Land.
Each copy comes with an art card (1 out of 3) and one trading cart (1 out of 16) from a new special trading card edition that is being released alongside this compilation. Additionally, each copy comes with a new set of stickers.
The meaning of the name of this release is two-fold, as some of you probably guessed already. For one, this phrase is a direct quote from the lyrics from »Secret Powers Entrenched In An Ancient Artefact«; the track and chapter where Umno finds the sword in the depths of the Udun-ba grot. A pivotal moment of our story.
On the other hand, »Blade Of The Underground« refers to ourself, us as a band. With the step taken, to self-release all our records, via a new found own label, directs us back to the “do it yourself” – attitude; back to taking care of things ourself and ensure real quality. This moves us away from a bigger label with bigger reach, but where many other things besides product quality play a major role.
We also want to speak about the art of this release. All artworks have been made by Mo using AI technology. The usage of such is currently critically debated within the art world, as well as outside of it. When Mo created these pieces around September of last year, he and we as a band, where not aware of the ethical concerns that have come to light since then. We are still amazed by the ways we could visualize characters, places and landscapes of our lore that were never visualized before. Still, we have to admit that we were a bit blinded by the amazement of the tool itself. We want to explicitly point out that we will continue to work with human artists in the future.
We made this compilation to have a high quality CD version of all our records. A place where fans old and new can experience our story in full. We made 500 copies it, so don’t worry about it being sold out within days like our previous vinyl releases. This release is meant stay available for some time and to be on tour with us. We made this to create a beautiful but also affordable place for people to visit our lands.

Thank you all for being with on this journey; with us in this.
All Swords Burn. 🗡
Eremit, 2023.”
Eremit is currently performing as a two-piece, while guitarist Kalle takes one of his travels.
The band comments: “For a second time in the history of this band, our member Kalle is traveling abroad. We are in frequent contact with him and he recently sent us the image you see. We as members of this band live different lives and Eremit reflects differently into our individual actions. Kalle takes these travels, these open trips, and lives the pilgrimage in his own ways.
We as a band continue to exists in these times, as we are an organic collaborative entity, if you will. During these times we perform as a two-piece consisting of Mo and Marco; often accompanied by Brede playing trumpet.
Once Kalle has reached home shores, he’ll rejoin and you’ll see us again in the core-three-piece formation that we have been from the start. All the best to Kalle out there somewhere.”
