German doomy heavy metal outfit Lȳkaa unveil new single »At His Behest« and announce debut album »Light Eater«!

Chemnitz/Leipzig, Germany based dark heavy/doom metal band Lȳkaa premiere a visualizer video for the second single »At His Behest« taken from their debut album, »Light Eater«, scheduled for release on November 27th, 2026 via Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records.

German doomy heavy metal outfit Lȳkaa return with »At His Behest«, the second single from their debut album »Light Eater«, due November 27 via Octopus Rising / Argonauta Records. The album will be available on deluxe vinyl and digital formats.

Saxony-based Lȳkaa continue to explore the darker corners of heavy music with »At His Behest«, following the release of their first single, »Izome«. Formed during the pandemic winter of 2022 inside an old Cold War bunker, the band combine doom-laden heaviness, dark heavy metal melodicism and post-punk-infused melancholy into a sound built on tension, atmosphere and emotional depth.

The track is taken from »Light Eater«, a debut album built around the dual nature of its title. A Light Eater represents the nameless presence that drains life from within, feeding on fear and consuming hope. Yet the concept also reflects the paradox of life itself, as nearly every living creature depends on light to survive. Destruction and despair thus coexist with creation, growth and the instinctive drive to embrace life.

This duality runs through the album, both musically and visually. The drums were recorded at Larox Studios in Chemnitz, while the remaining instruments were tracked in the band’s rehearsal space to preserve an intimate, organic atmosphere. Mixing and mastering were handled in Essen by Joshua Steinweg (Decaptacon) and Kerem Yilmaz (Imha Tarikat, The Night Eternal). The album artwork was created by Leipzig-based artist Luisa Gräf, whose work approaches the record’s themes beyond conventional metal imagery.

With »Light Eater«, Lȳkaa deliver a dark and immersive take on heavy metal, balancing oppressive atmospheres with haunting melodies and a strong emotional undercurrent.
