Bielefeld, NRW based outfit Blood Specter was formed in 2022 by veteran musicians of varying backgrounds in hardcore, punk and metal to take their torches to the dimly lit realms of contemporary doom metal. Presenting their self-titled demo in September of the same year, their explorations lay testimony to the ambitious five-piece’s ability to merge intricate guitar work and a hot-blooded approach to time signatures and conventional song writing with an emotionally captivating, dark, almost gothic sensibility. From there on, Blood Specter carry a flame ignited. A light to shine into the inner dark – created from the fire that keeps scorching the earth.

After honing their sound with a self-titled demo and a follow-up single, »Blood Specter« – one of the few doom metal bands to emerge from East Westphalia – returns with their latest creation, »Farewell«.

Led by the soaring vocals of Rebecca Möller, the band features Tobias Laufkötter (guitar, formerly drums, Tongue, Unru), Timm Mädler (guitar, Unru, ex-Vyre), Manuel Peiler (bass, ex-Disgusting News), and their newest addition, drummer Andreas Fiedler (ex-Vyre). Together, they delve into themes of loss, separation, and grief – emotions deeply woven into their creative process.

Though »Farewell« bears the indelible influence of former lead guitarist and songwriter Marvin Diekmännken, who departed the band after the recordings, the five tracks stand as both eulogies and fanfares. At its core, this release is a powerful ode to the two timeless pillars of all great art: love and death.
