Bikini Beach, the fuzz darlings hailing from Lake Constance, are ready to unveil their seventh studio album, »Cursed«, on February 7. As a final teaser, the band has dropped the single and accompanying video for »Cursed Century« – a dreamy mid-tempo track that reveals an entirely different side of their musical spectrum.
Evoking Californian vibes, »Cursed Century« is fuzz in slow motion – a sun-soaked, sixties-inspired fever dream that nods to surf culture while standing apart from the rest of the album’s darker, more hard-edged tracks. With its wistful melodies and contemplative lyrics, the song captures a moment of stillness amidst the chaos, showcasing Bikini Beach’s ability to stretch their creative boundaries.

For the band, »Cursed Century« feels like an enchanted fever dream. “Sometimes you can’t fall asleep because all the world’s problems are buzzing through your head,” they explain. Climate change, war, and the rise of far-right ideologies all weigh heavily, fueling the song’s reflective tone. Like the rest of »Cursed«, the lyrics confront the darkness of current events, transforming personal turmoil into a cathartic release of raw emotion.
The video for »Cursed Century« complements the song’s mood perfectly, blending dreamy, sunlit visuals with a sense of introspection. It’s a fitting prelude to an album that promises to be as thought-provoking as it is sonically expansive.
