“Giants Dwarfs And Black Holes was formed in December 2019, by four musicians from the Rhine Main Area with years of experience both in the studio and live. The musical starting point of Giants Dwarfs And Black Holes is heavy psychedelic rock – a musical journey through 70’s, psychedelic, blues, progressive, acid, kraut, desert and stoner rock. Where heavy riffs intertwine with progressive, bluesy and spacy elements.”

For quite a few rock fans, the seventies are the most exciting decade of their musical lives! There was a lot going on, one genre replaced the previous one overnight. Pocket money was spent on records faster than you wanted to or could. While the songs became shorter again at the end of the seventies with punk and new wave, the beginning of the decade was the heyday of extensive and extended sounds. Songs spanning an entire side of a record were not uncommon. Progressive/psychedelic music was exactly what music fans wanted to hear and still love.
The music from back then now forms the foundation of the German heavy psych/acid prog rock band Giants Dwarfs And Black Holes, which formed in the Rhine-Main area in 2019. On their third album »Echo On Death Of Narcissus«, the musicians go one better and refine their music with excursions into blues, kraut, stoner and desert rock. The result is a deeply interesting, powerful sound bridge between classic and modern sound. “A debauched trip through the entire sound cosmos of psychedelic rock” discovers Good Times Magazine, noting that the songs contain “the darkness of Black Sabbath, the blues of Led Zeppelin, and the magic of Pink Floyd”. Not bad references!
The band’s name arose from a mind game. On the one hand there are the astronomical terms: Giants(red giants), Dwarfs (white dwarfs) and Black Holes (black holes), on the other hand it is supposed to be a play on words for beings from fairy tales and mythology. The fairytalelike, astronomical ambiguity of the name is intentional and is intended to encourage individual interpretation.
The current line-up consists of singer Christiane Thomaßen, Tomasz Riedel (bass, guitars, keys), Caio Puttini Chaves (guitars) and Carsten Freckmann (drums). Together, the quartet has embarked on an incredibly exciting sonic journey that takes the listener along for the ride. Somehow similar to the past but deeply rooted in the here and now. A real enrichment of the current music scene! Highly recommended! Limited to 200 copies.
