German heavy rockers Wucan release live performance video of Nina Hagen cover »Unbeschreiblich Weiblich«

Dresden, Germany based psychedelic heavy rockers Wucan have released a live performance video of Nina Hagen cover »Unbeschreiblich Weiblich«.

Wucan are currently gearing up to release their fourth album, »Axioms«, which will see the light on August 29th, 2025 via Long Branch Records.

Wucan combine a retro sound with modern heavy rock – despite the unmistakable influences of bands like Renft, Lucifer’s Friend, Birth Control, and Krautrock in general, the band remains focused on its own style. In 2025, Wucan performed at the Freak Valley Festival in Netphen, Germany. They recorded an exclusive cover version of the Nina Hagen’s song »Unbeschreiblich Weiblich« for Rockpalast.

You can find the full concert HERE.

Wucan formed in Dresden in 2012. Singer Francis Tobolsky placed an ad in a student magazine with the subject “Blues Brothers Wanted.” Shortly thereafter, the band was complete and released their first demos via YouTube the following year. Their first performances followed in 2013, and their debut EP, »Vikarma«, was released in 2014. Since 2015, the band has regularly released studio albums and is a welcome guest in clubs and at festivals.

The Wucan style leaves room for jam rock passages, flute parts, and metal guitar riffs. The distinctive voice of singer Francis, bursting with energy and not shying away from emotion and melancholy, stands out in particular. Because of the flute parts, the band is often compared to Jethro Tull in the press. Wucan masters the entire palette from 70s folk rock to hard rock in the here and now – a journey through time with a return ticket.

Wucan is:
Francis Tobolsky – Vocals, Guitar, Flute, Theremin
Tim George – Guitar
Philip Knöfel – Drums
Alexander Karlisch – Bass
