Do you remember those mixtapes you used to spend hours and hours making, just to help understand someone how much they meant to you?
That’s what »Pizzazz« is all about – the second and final single of the upcoming debut album by German band Scott Evil.
All of us with a few grey hairs went through that phase where making someone a mixtape was a true ritual – and receiving one was an absolute honor. Every song meant something. The order of the tracks really mattered. And more often than not, the voice of the radio host from the show where the song was recorded would sneak in – you’d even end up memorizing the entire voiceover. Truth be told, they didn’t sound great, and we listened to them on pretty terrible sound systems most of the time. But they were one of a kind. We played them over and over again, and that’s why we’ll never forget them.

Following the release of »Circles« a few weeks ago as the first single, this is the backdrop for »Pizzazz«, the second and final single of »Big Dipper«, the debut album from German band Scott Evil. This new single, with a more pop-punk edge, is available now via Spinda Records.
Formed in 2018, German band Scott Evil is one of the rising stars of the Central European underground scene. To date, they’ve self-released several EPs, including »thisisscottevil« (2020), »Ocean« (2021) and »Quaranteens« (2022), as well as a split release with Moon Junior in 2024.
Their sound sits somewhere between shoegaze and dream pop, infused with bursts of energy that bring them closer to alternative rock and even post-hardcore. Their nostalgic, introspective lyrics clearly show the influence of Midwest emo as well. Their sound will be familiar for fans of Wolf Alice, My Bloody Valentine and Leavs.
Scott Evil’s »Big Dipper« – with artwork by Julia Walerus and Philipp Koronoswki – was recorded and mixed by Felix Margraf, and later mastered by Bill Henderson at Azimuth Mastering.
This album will be released on Thursday, June 5, 2025, via Spinda Records (home to Fin del Mundo, Moura, Buenos Vampiros, Las Nubes, Maragda, Travo), and will be available in digital format, compact disc and vinyl. The vinyl edition – produced in collaboration with Backpack Records – will be limited to 150 copies in transparent lavender and 150 copies in standard black, both of which are available for pre-order at spindarecords.com. https://spindarecords.com/products/scott-evil-big-dipper
