German stoner/doom metal band Mother Bear released their sophomore album »Orm 2«; available now on vinyl and digital!

Dortmund, Germany based stoner/doom metal trio Mother Bear is back with their sophomore album, »Orm 2«, which just dropped this Friday, May 29th, 2026.

Mother Bear took their slogan “Slow music for slow minds” quite literally and took three lazy years to come up with a successor for their debut »Zamonian Occultism«. Initially planning on turning down the amount of zamonia-related themes, they instead just dug deeper into the dark lore of Walter Moers’ novels. Whether it’s the despair and isolation of the Shadow King »Homunkoloss«, the outsiderishness of »Inazea«, the bloody history behind the »Kometenwein« – Mother Bear keep it true to their roots. Musically, »Orm 2« is heavier, slower and doomier than everything the band did yet, leaning even more to the stoner doom scene with acts like Windhand and, of course, Electric Wizard – except for the high-paced, sludgy »Muggroom Caravan«.

Not only do the themes continue, but also some people reappeared: Arno Augustin (guitar player at the Dortmund-based surfpunk outfit Drens) once again recorded and mixed the album, but also overseas-friend and folk musician Allysen Callery from Rhode Island added a spoken word part to »Nachtigalloskop«, with whom the band already teamed up for a collaborative EP called »Witch’s Hand« in 2023.
