Founded in 2001, the riff rock band Skullboogey from the Rhine-Main area is one of the longest-lasting do-it-yourself bands in the region. Without much support from labels or booking agencies, despite cancer, tinnitus, broken bones or high drummer wear and tear: this band has stood for uncompromising heavy rock for over two decades. Influences from Black Sabbath are just as undeniable as Alice In Chains or Black Label Society. What started out as a solo project by Stefan Wendling (vocals, guitar) became a live band violence with the additions of Christian Zickmann (bass) and Jens Urban (guitar), drawing incredulous looks and frenetic applause at festivals and club gigs alike. Pressure, groove and above all the song have always been more important than the musical self-realisation of individual members. After the releases »Life Is A Pity«, »Dead § Sold«, »III« and »Purified«, Skullboogey are finally back on the road with a new album to fire off their riffs in front of the eyes and ears of the rock community. The band sees itself as a unit and, thanks to new drummer Janis Heftrich, this has been successfully and impressively conveyed on the new album. It is called »Dirty Bones Rolling« and will not leave any Skullboogey fan disappointed and will certainly bring the band one or two new fans. The new album will be released on 14 June 2024.

The name says it all, »Dirty Bones Rolling«, after more than 20 years of band history, the fifth studio album has been completed. The old bones are rolling again. When the idea of recording the new studio album live came up, enthusiasm quickly spread among all band members. Then came the silence with the pandemic lockdown. Despite all the adversity, songs were written. The attempt to realise the album and the rehearsals by sending audio files back and forth turned out to be the wrong approach. They decided to do the opposite. So, after intensive rehearsals, 13 basic tracks were recorded live in the Eckton Studio over two (!) days. In order to preserve the magic of “playing together”, care was taken during mixing to maintain the roughness of the songs and the recordings. The result is 13 of the finest riff rock songs with influences from metal, punk and blues. As usual, all the songs were penned by Stefan Wendling, who once again let one or two iconic riffs flow out of his guitar. The riffs and grooves remain the backbone of the Skullboogey sound, while Stefan’s vocals put his stamp on the whole thing with floating harmonies and growls.
