German wasteland sludgers Saraksh announce new album »Abiram« and unleash lyric video for first single »Forlorn«!

Mannheim, Germany based sludge/doom metal band Saraksh premiere a lyric video for the first single »Forlorn« zaken from their new full-length album, »Abiram«, scheduled for release on November 20th, 2026.

German wasteland sludgers Saraksh have announced their new full-length album »Abiram«, set for release on November 20, 2026. The announcement is accompanied by the release of a lyric video for the record’s first single, »Forlorn«, offering an intense first glimpse into the band’s latest work.

Speaking about the track and the album’s concept, guitarist/vocalist Severin Mäker comments: “Saraksh is a dead planet. Bleak, dismal. Its surface denies any life, banishing any creature, burying them beneath nothing but burned crust, sand, agony and indignation. In this utterly inhospitable wasteland a wanderer lives out another chapter of his struggle for survival. This has once again been made to music by Saraksh and preserved for posterity with the new upcoming record »Abiram«. So now you can listen to the first impressions of this magnificent story.”

He continues: “»Forlorn« tells of the wanderer descending deep into ruins beneath the sand – ruins that speak of war, the overzealous worship of technology and the loss of humanity. »Forlorn« is arguably Saraksh’s most brutal and technical song to date. Constantly shifting and on-moving rhythms meet fast blast-beats and intricate riffs, yet remain catchy and groovy. All this escalates into a brutal confrontation for our wanderer.”

Severin Mäker gave birth to the dystopian/sci-fi influenced project in 2018, counting three releases so far, with »Moloch: Refactored« (2023) marking a plunge into a more conceptual approach into the themes of Saraksh. Contrasting its brutalist title track with three concentrated tracks »Drive«, »R.T.W.Y.A.« and »Eden In Waste«, the quartet delivers by navigating between groove-oozing and nerve-crushing riffs, whilst chaotic outbursts are eerily surrounded by psychotic, then liberating chants, just to be completely resolved in proliferated guitar layers and atmospheric, synth-driven passages.

Being influenced by the likes of Converge, Ulcerate, Totem Skin and Omega Massif, the band keeps their organic, yet tight playing style very closely tied to the aspect of musical storytelling. Thus, the upcoming album »Abiram« picks up right where the grand finale of the title track from the band’s last release left off, in which the wanderer leaves »Moloch« full of despair and hopelessness.
