Three musicians. Two continents. A new beginning. Welcome to the next stage in the evolution of Godzilla In The Kitchen.

Gunshots – AK-47s firing relentlessly. It’s 5 a.m. in a favela in Rio de Janeiro. Whether this was the trigger or simply the last straw that broke the camel’s back, Thiago Presto’s bags are packed: in 2019, he emigrates to Leipzig.

Five years later. Two driven musicians, Simon Ulm and Eric Patzschke, are facing the end of their band, Godzilla In The Kitchen. Their drummer is gone, and how to restore the once perfectly matched trio in 2024 remains a huge mystery. But as has always been the case throughout the band’s history – a history that reached its first major milestone in 2022 with an appearance at Wacken Open Air – giving up was never an option. The allure of the big stages and the thunderous applause was simply too strong.

After a chain of countless coincidences, Thiago Presto finds himself behind the drums of the band. He brings an explosive dose of power and Maracatu to their progressive, psychedelic groove rock. Everything changes.

The days of being purely instrumental are over. It’s time to speak up, to address what needs to be said, to channel emotions – Simon Ulm takes over vocal duties. What was once an instrumental rock band has now become a powerful alternative metal machine with contemporary lyrics. World events are subtly reflected upon and placed within the vivid imagery already familiar from the band’s previous albums:

»Termination Sequence« – album number three by Godzilla In The Kitchen.

When the first demos were created together with Thiago Presto in 2024, a new feeling began to emerge. Something had changed. The dynamics, the drive, the energy were noticeably greater. Guitarist Eric Patzschke eventually summed it up perfectly: “We sound much heavier and more aggressive than before.”

An honest moment that set everything in motion. With the demos in their luggage, the band sought a second opinion. Andy Schmidt, known for Disillusion and his work as a producer, listened to the material. His reaction came without hesitation: “Start singing already.” What began as a simple suggestion became the spark that ignited everything. The instrumental era was over. Simon Ulm took on the challenge and immediately embraced the new freedom.

Lyrics and vocals developed surprisingly organically. Suddenly everything fell into place. Global events provided the fitting backdrop, the themes practically demanded attention, and ideas turned into songs with a clear stance. Groovy riffs meet melodic passages that merge with emotional yet aggressive vocals. In their own Kuntergrund Studio, the band finds its place within alternative metal while naturally integrating its roots in stoner, progressive, and psychedelic rock into a distinctive, analog sound. Andy Schmidt supports the band with the arrangements.

Driven by the ambition to constantly explore new musical paths, »Termination Sequence« took shape as a work of eight distinct tracks. On the album, Godzilla In The Kitchen present a massive sonic landscape that hits with force while still leaving room for subtle nuances and compositional depth.

“We live in intense times. We’re not here to preach or claim that we have all the right answers. Our aim is to ask the right questions, keep our eyes, ears and hearts open, and resist the urge to jump to conclusions. We’re witnessing the tensions unfolding in society, yet we remain optimistic that a beautiful future is still within our reach.”

“For all its terrifying aspects, this era of conflict, artificial superintelligence, biotechnology and interplanetary exploration may well be one of the most fascinating periods in human history. And as long as the world keeps throwing up these contradictions, we’ll never run out of subjects to turn into seriously interesting music. Music that, hopefully, people will enjoy just as much as they enjoy thinking about the ideas behind it.”

»Termination Sequence« is released on October 23, 2026, in cooperation with the label Tonzonen Records and distributed by Cargo Records Germany.
