Gnaal, originally known as Kalyva, was founded in 2017 in Rethymno, Greece, bringing together three musicians who shared a passion for heavy sound and the expressiveness of stoner and metal music. In 2024, with the addition of a fourth member on vocals, the group was renamed Gnaal. Through a blend of dark, atmospheric melodies and dynamic riffs, they strive to create a unique sound that captures the intensity and melancholy of doom metal.

Since its inception, the band has performed numerous live shows, leaving its mark on the underground scene in Crete and beyond. Through these live performances, they have built a solid, loyal fan base. Currently, the band is working intensely on completing its debut album, which draws strong influences from traditional heavy metal and atmospheric doom.
