After releasing their critically acclaimed debut album »Κτηνωδία« in 2021, the Athens heavy rock trio Khirki, inspired by the legendary sorceress Circe from Homer’s Odyssey, is ready to present their much anticipated second piece of work, titled »Κυκεώνας«.

Facing the challenges of crafting a sophomore album, Khirki manage to maintain their signature fusion of exhilaratind rock’n’roll with the allure of seductive Greek folk, while also deepening and broadening their sonic palette.

The mythological lore accompanied by traditional instrumentation, the unpredictable orchestration featuring proggy twists, the inviting choruses complementing the bass-heavy exotic beats, the invigorating 70s rock breath and the addictively powerful metal riffs, have all been meticulously prepared into an intoxicating potion. The lyrical theme woven throughout the album pays homage to the elemental power and symbolism of the Sea. Immerse yourself in the evocative storytelling, as »Κυκεώνας« explores the crushing waves of storms and the instinctive call of freedom.

For the recording of the album, the band has teamed up once again with the acclaimed producer Theodore Zefkilis (known for his work with Rotting Christ, Planet Of Zeus), capturing the essence of their sound in Athens during the Spring of 2023. Manster Design was also called back to embellish the album artwork through his vision and talent.

»Κυκεώνας« [Kykeónas’ was an Ancient Greek drink of various descriptions. It is widely believed that kykeon usually refers to a psychoactive compounded brew, as in the case of the Eleusinian Mysteries.]
