Hidden Gems & Guilty Pleasures: Bödel (Sweden)

Bödel (Crust Punk/Hardcore // Sweden)

“Fronted by 19-year-old powerhouse Leya, alongside her father Arvid (The Crown, Deny), Henke (Pastoratet, The Liptones, Vänsternäven), and new drummer Micke (The Crown, Adept, Impious), Bödel deliver a sound that’s both furious and fresh.”

It’s all about speed. That’s the simplest way to describe Bödel’s meteoric rise. From their first rehearsal to international buzz in just a matter of weeks, Bödel has become one of Sweden’s most talked-about new punk bands – hailed by Aftonbladet’s Sofia Bergström as “the most interesting punk band for the future right now.”

The story begins in late 2023, when “Masken” (Mats Sjögren, Antabus/Sub Alert) hears Leya guest on a track by Chörnobyl. Instantly struck by the raw power of her voice, he immediately contacts Leya’s father Arvid (The Crown, Deny). The vision is crystal clear: no gimmicks, no complications – just pure, uncompromising d-beat, crust, and hardcore in its most unfiltered form.

Leya (vocals), Masken (drums), and Arvid (guitar) quickly form the core of Bödel. Shortly after, Henrik (Pastoratet, The Liptones, Vänsternäven) joins on bass. Their first rehearsal takes place in February 2024: three songs are written, the whole session is filmed, a short clip is posted on Facebook – and then everything blows up. Labels and bookers from all over the world reach out. Tours are discussed. Vinyl releases are planned. The wheels spin faster than anyone could have predicted.

In March 2024, the band enters the studio and records ten tracks for upcoming releases. The first out is the single »Bilan Faller«, released June 14 via Distat, which immediately gains widespread international radio rotation. The EP »Välkommen till avrättningen« follows during the summer on cassette and digital formats (Distat/Cramada), and is later released on vinyl via the American label Atrocious Disarray.

Bödel’s debut show took place on March 31, 2024, at Skjulet in Gothenburg – a packed, euphoric chaos – and the band quickly begins booking as many shows as they can handle. In March 2025 Masked decided to part ways with the band and Mikael “Mickeyboi” Norén joined the crust train of Bödel. Mikael have a past in Impious, Adept, touring member of Imminence and is the second part of the powerhouse with Arvid in The Crown.

But all of this turns out to be only the beginning. After months of anticipation, the time has finally come: »Dödsbringaren« will be released on January 30, 2026 via Distat (Cramada/Sound Pollution). An album born from the legendary punk soil of Skaraborg – the same ground that shaped Wolfbrigade, Asta Kask, and Anti Cimex.

Produced by Jocke Rydbjer (Wolfbrigade) at Wolfden Studio, »Dödsbringaren« is a 12-track eruption of fury and desolation. The CD edition also includes all previous recordings – a total of 23 tracks on one disc. Pre-order »Dödsbringaren« HERE.

Bödel isn’t here to play nice. They’re here to destroy everything in their path.
