Hidden Gems & Guilty Pleasures: Confess (Sweden)
Confess (Hard Rock // Sleaze Metal, Sweden)
Confess was formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 2008 by frontman John Elliot as a high school band, soon joined by Samuel Samael, Denver, Blomman, and Lucky.
With a lineup ready to take on the world, they released their debut album »Jail« in 2014, which showcased a more brutal side of hard rock/sleaze, followed by touring in Europe and a couple of shows in the States.
Their sophomore album, »Haunters«, was released in 2017, incorporating more influences of AOR into their raw style. Around this time, they had some changes in the lineup: Ludwig Nordlander and Pontus Walldin replaced Lucky and Denver. Together, they released their third album, »Burn ‘Em All«, in 2020, just weeks before the pandemic set the band on hiatus.
Confess started recording their fourth album in 2024 as a temporary four-piece since they parted ways with Walldin earlier that year. In September 2024 they dropped their brand new single »Spitfire« accompanied by a music video. This song serves as the first release from the band in over 4 years and also marks the start of a new era for Confess.
The band is often said to be Swedish sleaze, though they have a lot of influences from hard rock, metal, and even progressive metal at times.
