The Fonogram Award-winning doom metal outfit Wall Of Sleep has released their brand-new new EP, »Monolith«, on September 11, 2026 via H-Music. The release marks a monumental milestone for the band as they celebrate 25 years at the forefront of the Hungarian metal scene.
»Monolith« features five brand-new tracks, a re-recorded version of an early classic from the band’s catalog, and a special cover track. The EP serves as a testament to the band’s enduring legacy and continuous sonic evolution.
A quarter-century of underground legacy:
Formed in 2001 from the ashes of the seminal underground band Mood (1993–2001), Wall Of Sleep has spent the last two decades cementing their reputation as a powerhouse of heavy music. Characterized by signature twin-guitar harmonies and classic heavy rock elements rooted in the 1970s and 1980s, the band seamlessly blends doom metal with hard rock.

Over their storied career, Wall Of Sleep has achieved international recognition:
In 2006, they released the epic album »Sun Faced Apostles«, featuring a guest appearance by doom metal icon Scott “Wino” Weinrich (The Obsessed, Saint Vitus, The Hidden Hand).
»…And Hell Followed With Him« followed in 2007 via the acclaimed Swedish label I Hate Records, expanding their global footprint.
Wall Of Sleep shared festival stages across Western Europe with heavy music titans including Crowbar, Trouble, Mastodon, High On Fire, and Darkest Hour.
The mk.III era and award-winning success:
The band’s current lineup – affectionately dubbed Wall Of Sleep mk.III – features lead vocalist Zoltán “BZ” Bátky, whose progressive, hard rock, and symphonic background has brought a dynamic new energy to their signature sound.
This modern era has yielded some of the highest accolades in the band’s history. After a seven-year hiatus, the band returned in May 2025 with their critically acclaimed studio album, »The Kingdom«. The nine-track release earned immediate praise from fans and critics alike, ultimately winning the Fonogram Award (the Hungarian equivalent of the Grammy Awards) for Best Hard Rock / Metal Album of the Year.
Wall Of Sleep is not slowing down. In April 2026, they released a remastered version of their 2002 debut EP, »Overlook The All«, featuring their full-length debut album, »Slow But Not Dead«, on a double CD through H-Music Hungary – with this release, their entire discography is finally available on physical media.
The release of their new EP, »Monolith«, solidifies Wall Of Sleep’s position as an unstoppable force in European heavy metal. »Monolith« EP is now available on CD and all major streaming platforms.
Wall Of Sleep celebrated 25th anniversary with their new EP and special concert, joined by another gothic/doom metal legends, Nevergreen.
