Oakmord is an international funeral doom band formed in 2019 (Finland/Germany). The band is the collaboration of Sami Rautio and Jürgen Fröhling both members of My Shameful.
Stylistically Oakmord falls logically into the funeral doom scene, but adds more varied atmospheric passages and even jazz and minimalistic classical influences creating a haunting mix of music, beautiful, yet at the same time very disturbing and extreme in it’s moods.
This is not easy listening music to be played in the background, this is pure misanthropy, self-hatred and will to die.
While the previous EPs »We Were Always Alone« and »End Of A Dream« were Oakmord still seeking its own voice, the new full-length album »Take The Step« is a defining moment.

In it’s relentless sense of despair, the utter loss of hope, the album also sees what has to be the bleakest, darkest songwriting Mr. Rautio has ever done. Yet, there continues also exploration beyond funeral doom, and maybe even metal as well with sombre passages that channel great songwriters in more popular genres.
The new album was recorded in various locations, the drums in M.K. Recording in Bamberg, Germany by Matthias Burgis, and all the rest by Sami Rautio in various locations in Finland. Mixed and mastered by Sami Rautio.
There is no hope.
