Syrinx first emerged in a slanted farmhouse outside Vancouver, British Columbia – a gathering place for wandering spirits and restless musicians. What began as a rotating cast embarking on formless experiments gradually solidified into songs, and those early rites became their debut »Embrace The Dark – Seek The Light«. That record revealed a band unafraid of the strange, threading progressive rock’s labyrinth with heavy metal’s thunder, always in search of illumination beyond the shadows. Critics praised it as a fusion of Black Sabbath’s early doom, Judas Priest’s traditional metal fire, and the structural ambition of Queensrÿche, all shot through with the cosmic spirit of Rush, Yes, and other ‘70s prog giants. Riffs bristled with energy, rhythms twisted into weird shapes, and meditative passages opened portals into other realms.

Following a string of spectacle-heavy shows that left audiences both confounded and spellbound, Syrinx withdrew into hibernation. Yet the core remained intact, waiting for the moment to return.

That moment has arrived.

Their sophomore opus, »Time Out Of Place«, is a modern-day rock opera recorded entirely in the analog realm – no computers, no A.I., only human hands guided by heart. Here, glistening ethereal soundscapes collide with crushing riffs, labyrinthine rhythms, and unforgettable melodies. The music bends time itself, offering both immediacy and depth: heavy moods that strike at once, and hidden chambers that reveal themselves only after repeated journeys. Songs cascade with Rush-like synth lines, Voivod-flavored dissonance, ritualistic chants, and bass lines that channel Chris Squire’s jazzy aggression. It is occult, cosmic, complex, and wholly alive.

The album carries forward the singular guitar work of Graham McGee (ex-Spell, Opulent Decay, For None and All) alongside the soaring voice of JP Abboud (ex-Traveler, Termination Shock, Prequel To Madness). They are joined by Seth Lyon’s dynamic and elemental drumming and Bobby Shock’s subterranean bass and synth alchemy. Together, Syrinx channel a bold and uncompromising vision – for fans of Rush, Genesis, Yes, Voivod, Queensrÿche, Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, and Fates Warning.

Released September 9, 2025, »Time Out Of Place« is more than an album: it is an invocation. A voyage beyond the veil of time.
