Introducing: American heavy/doom/groove metal band Killstrap from central Wisconsin!
Killstrap is an American heavy/doom/groove metal band. Formed in the summer of 2019 in Wisconsin when frontman Drake Sass and guitarist Kris Fox of grunge band Heilzaam were kicking around some ridiculous song title ideas for a spoof band, Vomitorium. The pair decided the ideas were too good to be ignored and set about writing and recording Killstrap’s debut album, »Ticket To Death«.
Released in October 2021, »Ticket To Death« is an 8-song collection of metal madness touching on the darker elements of the human collective: greed, destruction, death and the like. Remixed and remastered version of »Ticket To Death« dropped on April 1st, 2023 via Zero Fox Recordz. Available now on all major streaming platforms.
Killstrap emerged as a musical collaboration, twenty-five years in the making, between cousins Fox and Sass. With Sass providing the initial concept, Fox set about recording guitar tracks and quickly had the structure for an eight song album.
Not wanting to lose momentum, Fox called upon his alter ego, Kennee Fairlane, to handle bass duties and enlisted D.C. progressive music scene virtuoso Paul Sears (The Muffins, Manna Mirage, Cloud Over Jupiter) for drumming. With the instrumental framework in place, the stage was set to weave a lyrical tapestry infused with the darker facets of human experience. Delving deep into his psyche, Fox recorded the lyrics in just two sessions, followed by Sass adding backing vocals.
Constrained by budget, Killstrap took on the challenge of mixing the album themselves. Consequently, Fox was unanimously chosen to mix and produce their debut album, henceforth titled »Ticket To Death«.
