Introducing: Death/doom metal band Decemberance from Athens, Greece!

Decemberance is a death/doom metal band from Athens, Greece.

Formed in 1997 by Yiannis Filippaios and Manos Kousourlis (now co-producer, mixing and mastering engineer of the band), Decemberance features members of Shattered Hope, Daylight Misery, Mask Of Prospero, Tenebrae Semitarius, Pretend We Are Dead, Ciccada, Apomihanis Theos, Message In A Cloud and more.

The band has gone through many line-up changes over the years. They have participated in a lot of gigs in Greece, headlining shows, as well as supporting well-established bands Candlemass, Kaamos, Saturnus, among others.

Decemberance have also participated in several doom festivals all over Europe (UK, Netherlands, Belgium) together with bands such as Esoteric, Marche Funèbre, The Prophecy, Ophis, Officium Triste, October Tide, Façade, Decembre Noir, etc.

Decemberance’s latest full-length, »Implosions«, is an album created “by accident” during the quarantine period.

“First, we wanted to compose a different music piece than our usual ones, something resembling a movie soundtrack with piano and cello. We had the music, the riffs, and we arranged all of it accordingly. Thus, »The Blue Thread« was born. Then, we had the idea of making a song in the Decemberance style, which could accompany it as an EP; but this one song turned into two vast songs, »Scaffold« and »Shrouds«.”

Musically and lyrically, the band tried to describe the schemes of collapse, the mechanisms of despair, as well as the mental breakdown of loss. Any loss…
