»Níl mo chroí in aon rud« (NEEL muh KREE in ain rud), the debut album from the band Fós, is set to redefine genre boundaries by blending the haunting melodies of traditional Irish folk singing with the raw, crushing tones of doom, sludge and post-metal. Released through Fiadh Productions, this fusion promises to deliver a unique and captivating listening experience.
»Níl mo chroí in aon rud« is an artistic endeavour that brings together the ancient and the modern. The album builds upon the band’s previous releases with a greater emphasis on riffs and song structure, more densely layered arrangements, and heavier, more impactful production. Featuring a collection of eight meticulously crafted tracks, the album weaves the poignant storytelling and melancholic beauty of Irish folk music with the deep, resonant riffs and sombre atmospheres of doom metal and ambient music to produce something evocative, affecting and wholly original.
No vocal pitch correction was used on this album.

Fós is a metal band from Dublin, Ireland, which draws heavily on the sean-nós tradition from traditional Irish folk music. Sean-nós is a style of a capella vocal music, in which a solo singer avoids a strict rhythm and metre, and focuses instead on expressive ornamented melody in order to convey a mournful, sorrowful mood.
Although sean-nós was once a popular musical form in Ireland, in recent decades it has become increasingly marginalised and niche, and is now rarely heard outside of traditional music festivals and similar events. Fós combines female sean-nós singing (entirely in the Irish language) with instrumental arrangements drawn from drone-doom, sludge and post-metal, along with ambient and industrial textures.
The band’s first EP, »Rinne mé iarraidh«, was released in 2020 to critical acclaim. The EP attracted the attention of the New York label Fiadh Productions, which is releasing Fós’s debut album »Níl mo chroí in aon rud« as a limited edition vinyl.
