Italian doom metal project Starspawn Of Cthulhu release crushing Candlemass cover »Crystal Ball«

Italian doom metal project Starspawn Of Cthulhu premiere a cover of Candlemass track »Crystal Ball«, released this Friday, May 30th, 2025.

Roberto Biasin comments: “This is a totally rearranged version of the legendary song »Crystal Ball« by Candlemass. Althought this is a tribute, it sounds as it was written in the style of Starspawn Of Cthulhu and on the second verse there’s a guest on vocals: Giuseppe Guarini from King Potenaz. Enjoy!”

Lovecraftian doom metal from Italy returns with a haunting tribute to the masters!

Italy’s cosmic doom conjurers Starspawn Of Cthulhu are set to release a powerful cover of Candlemass’s legendary track »Crystal Ball« on May 30, 2025. Known for merging slow, heavy riffs with the madness of Lovecraftian horror, Starspawn Of Cthulhu brings their signature atmosphere to this classic song, honoring the roots of doom metal while keeping their eldritch spirit alive.

Formed in late 2019 by Roberto Biasin and Domenico Groppo, the band quickly made waves in the underground with three full-length albums, a single featuring Chris Babalis (Acid Mammoth), and a record deal with Talheim Records. After Groppo’s departure and the end of the label collaboration, Biasin carried on alone, transforming Starspawn Of Cthulhu into a one-man force with session musicians handling live performances.

Their most recent album, »Alienum«, marked a significant step forward for the project, receiving praise from both fans and critics, and pushing their listener base into new territory. The release party for Alienum solidified Starspawn’s presence in the doom scene as more than just a studio entity.

With this upcoming Candlemass cover, Starspawn Of Cthulhu continues to pay tribute to the genre’s pioneers while inviting fans of Pallbearer, Khemmis , and Woods Of Ypres to step into the abyss once again.
