Bari, Italy based doom/sludge metal quintet Zolfo has released new live video performing their song »Apoptosis« at Frantic Fest 2025.
Says the band: “Today we release our official live video from our performance last summer at Frantic Fest. It is out on YouTube and all streaming platforms.”
zolfo /’tsolfo/ or /’dzolfo/ [lat. sulphur or sulfur]
A chemical element that exists in various physical forms such as gas, liquid, solid and… music.
The musical form has only five valence electrons, strong smell and is often accompanied by a green toxic fog and claustrophobic, heavy and distorted sounds, that evokes an intense and suggestive sensory experience, characterized by oppressive, dissonant, enveloping riffs and extremely acid rough vocals, that transport the listener into a dark and unsettling sonic world.
Born in 2016, they have consistently sought to evolve their sound, transitioning from the raw stoner sludge of »Phosphene/Floaters« (2017) to the extreme doom atmosphere of »Delusion Of Negation« (2020, Spikerot Records), and culminating in their latest work »Descending Into Inexorable Absence« (2024, Zann’s Records / Violence In The Veins / Riff Merchant Records), where they have integrated additional elements of post, black and progressive.
From a lyrical standpoint, each album offers a unique conceptual journey; delving deep into the various conditions of human existence.
