Osaka, Japan based death/doom metal/hardcore outfit Burden Of Despair is back with their new album, »Confutatis«, which was just self-released by the band on April 9th, 2025.

Tracklist:
01. Slaughterfaith
02. Lifeblasphemer
03. St. Massacre
04. Confutatis
05. Nega-Messiah
06. Godforsaken

Three years have passed since their previous release, »Desecration – Sacred Blasphemy« EP, which broke the long silence of over 15 years. The roar and impact that exceeded the high expectations of extreme music lovers has been further polished in live houses, and is finally released in the form of a full album.

Based on the influence of slow and heavy US death metal, the sound is dynamic with a heightened physicality that is reminiscent of hardcore. The sweet and violent catharsis led by the excellent riff work and rich rhythm development is unmatched. During the recording, all instruments were recorded simultaneously, free from BPM, and by mixing with the blasphemous roar, it attacks the listener as a writhing mass of “death” like a mythical giant beast (Leviathan).

In addition, this work is arranged with yama from Cyberne/ex-SeeK on bass, and the songs from the previous EP were completely re-recorded, successfully increasing the depth to an unparalleled level.

The artwork was done by British painter Namurian Visions, making the dark world even more intense.

Biography:
After a hiatus from 2004-2006, the band went on hiatus and resumed activities with the current members in 2022. They suddenly released a three-song EP, and almost all 500 copies were sold out immediately after its release. Since then, they have released reissues of their music through Taiwan’s Bad Moon Rising and performed live, and have gained support by interacting with underground artists in not only death metal/hardcore but also dance music, ghost stories, demon summoning, and more.

“Born from the flames rising from the depths of the Earth, Burden Of Despair dedicated funeral music to God and his followers.”
